Most of us associate
\nChristmas with consumerism and that’s fine but that doesn’t mean everybody wants something
\nthat is brand spankin\u2019 new. Do you know who won’t care if you went Black Friday shopping to be
\nthe first in line to purchase the new Kindle Script? Your horse, that’s who. All they want is our
\ntime, love, and dedication. So with that in mind, I\u2019ve conjured up the top five (nonmaterialistic)
\nthings our horses want for Christmas.<\/p>\n
1. Butt scratches. I haven’t a clue about your horses but mine are absolute suckers for butt
\nscratches. And not the ones that last one minute because your hand gets tired, no. They
\nwant the 45+ minute scratches that you consider pulling up a chair for because you are
\ngoing to be there for a while. And don\u2019t leave until they tell you to either. If you walk away
\nbefore they are satisfied they will back their butt up to you. Horses. Want. Butt.
\nScratches.<\/p>\n
2. Peppermint treats. I\u2019m only 32 but in my house, we stock up on the puffy peppermint
\ncandies like we’re 75. I buy those huge buckets that I’m sure are meant to be
\nmarketed to doctors’ offices and restaurants because my horses (and kids) are obsessed
\nwith them. If you don’t already have buckets of those candies then you can snag one for
\nlike $8 at your local store that will last you until next Christmas! These sweet treats are
\nperfect for horses and safe for them to consume. So maybe this Christmas Eve consider
\nsharing a mint with your horse. And if they don\u2019t love the mint then they’ll enjoy
\nyour company.<\/p>\n
3. Hair braiding. I highly suggest learning how to do a \u2018running braid\u2019 if you don\u2019t already
\nknow how. It’s just a French braid that runs down the length of their mane. And
\nbonus points if you tie in a red Christmas bow and take a picture because your horse will
\nlook festive AF.<\/p>\n
4. Massage. I love doing an old-fashioned equine massage with my hands because it
\nincreases circulation and relieves tension in sore muscles which can lead to increased
\nflexibility. But if you want to level up your massages a notch then you can use a
\nmassage gun you already have in the house or snag a new one. I\u2019ve seen horses enjoy
\nthese so much and their reactions can be hilarious.<\/p>\n
5. Lastly, your time. Our horses adore us and love having our attention. So maybe you can
\ngrab your speaker, turn on some Christmas tunes, and bond with your horse. It doesn’t
\nmatter if you’re grooming them, braiding their hair, or serenading them with a poorly sung
\nclassic Christmas song such as, \u2018All I Want For Christmas\u2019. They just want YOU!<\/p>\n
