As a kid I\u2019d always make my animals Christmas presents.\u00a0 It was usually a treat of some sort.\u00a0 Since I have some extra time to spend in the kitchen I thought it\u2019d be fun to revisit my treat making days and create some yummy cookies for my boys.<\/p>\n

My horses are pretty conservative when it comes to treats.\u00a0 Austin likes carrots, apples, and watermelon.\u00a0 Anton really only likes carrots.\u00a0 They both do not like peppermints.\u00a0 Here is a recipe I threw together that sticks to the basics.\u00a0 You probably have all the ingredients already in your pantry and fridge.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

2 cups shredded apples and carrots<\/p>\n

2 cups rolled oats<\/p>\n

2 cups flour<\/p>\n

1\/2 cup molasses or honey<\/p>\n

3 tsp oil ( I used coconut)<\/p>\n

1 tsp salt<\/p>\n

1\/2 tsp cinnamon<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees<\/li>\n
  2. Mix all ingredients together<\/li>\n
  3. Roll into 1 inch balls and place on baking sheet<\/li>\n
  4. Bake for approximately 20 minutes until golden brown<\/li>\n
  5. Cool for a couple of hours in refrigerator<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    You can substitute all apples or all carrots.\u00a0 Flax meal or rice bran could be a great addition.\u00a0 You could also add a peppermint to the top of each treat after baking.<\/p>\n
