What Tools Are You Using?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our winter is far from over but the days are getting longer which has me dreaming of warmer temperatures and morning rides out on the trail.\u00a0 Longer days also mean my horses are starting to shed.\u00a0 I don\u2019t clip my horses simply because, in a harsh climate like ours, I believe their natural coat is best at keeping them warm. It\u2019s a long shedding season but I\u2019m so excited that it\u2019s finally here!<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve tried my share of deShedding tools over the years but I\u2019m always looking for the new, magic tool that will make grooming quick and easy!<\/p>\n<p>My deShedding tools have evolved over the years.\u00a0 When I was a kid we used the metal shedder blade horse scraper with the handle that you could open and hold one with each hand and glide it over the horse.\u00a0 From what I remember that tool worked well.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Epona-Flexible-Glossy-Groomer\/dp\/B07D62JL53\/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3JTDFEI4RFMSL&amp;keywords=epona+curry+comb&amp;qid=1581986190&amp;s=pet-supplies&amp;sprefix=epona%2Cpets%2C198&amp;sr=1-1\">Epona rubber curry<\/a> but in combo with the SleekEZ.<\/p>\n<p>Years ago I originally bought the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00VC87KYI?pf_rd_p=ab873d20-a0ca-439b-ac45-cd78f07a84d8&amp;pf_rd_r=G670WHRPXGS8B9KM4AYS\">SleekEZ<\/a> for my dog but somehow it migrated out to the barn where is has stayed.\u00a0 I find this type of deShedding blade works really well for horses.\u00a0 I have a thin-skinned, more sensitive horse and he is perfectly happy when I use this tool.\u00a0 So currently I\u2019m using the Epona rubber curry and my SleekEZ.<\/p>\n<p>I recently did a poll on instagram.\u00a0 So many people are using so many different tools!<\/p>\n<p>A large majority of horse owners are using the SleekEZ.<\/p>\n<p>The second most popular deShedding tool was a curry\u2026<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Epona-Flexible-Glossy-Groomer\/dp\/B07D62JL53\/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3JTDFEI4RFMSL&amp;keywords=epona+curry+comb&amp;qid=1581986190&amp;s=pet-supplies&amp;sprefix=epona%2Cpets%2C198&amp;sr=1-1\">Rubber<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Epona-Shed-Flower-Groomer-Assorted\/dp\/B001C48GRM\/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=flower+curry&amp;qid=1581986302&amp;s=pet-supplies&amp;sr=1-1\">Flower<\/a> being the most popular while some horse owners us the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Horze-Reversible-Metal-Curry\/dp\/B00D46EM10\/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&amp;keywords=metal+curry&amp;qid=1581986384&amp;s=pet-supplies&amp;sr=1-2\">old-school metal curry<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A few horse owners swore by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Slick-N-Easy-Groom-Block\/dp\/B010NT61IC\/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=shedding+block&amp;qid=1581986418&amp;s=pet-supplies&amp;sr=1-4\">Shedding Block \/ Bot Block<\/a>.\u00a0 I have not used this block for deShedding but I have used it for removing bot eggs.\u00a0 I\u2019ll have to give it a go this shedding season.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00VC87KYI?pf_rd_p=ab873d20-a0ca-439b-ac45-cd78f07a84d8&amp;pf_rd_r=G670WHRPXGS8B9KM4AYS\">HandsOn Gloves<\/a> were another popular tool.\u00a0 I\u2019ve used these gloves for bath time and scrubbing dirty legs.\u00a0 I\u2019ll have to try them for deShedding.<\/p>\n<p>There was one vote for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/StripHair-Gentle-Groomer-Horses\/dp\/B079T2JC2W\/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=strip+hair&amp;qid=1581986771&amp;sr=8-1\">Strip Hair<\/a>.\u00a0 This product was new to me but
