If you work your horses in an outdoor or indoor arena, getting ready to ride is a matter of saddling up and then schooling your horse. \u00a0But if you are a bit more adventurous or would like to change up the pace, trail riding is the way to go. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Horses love to get out of the routine and well, lets face it, just be horses. \u00a0Trail riding allows both you and your horse the chance to relax, see new sights and experience many new situations. \u00a0Since you and your horse will be away from the convenience of your barn, the things you may need will not just be a tack room away. \u00a0Having a few needed things on hand while you ride will make it all the better! <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Some of the best advice for anyone that rides is to carry your cell phone on yourself, not your horse. \u00a0Anytime you need to reach someone or if you come off of your horse for some reason, your phone will be there for you. \u00a0Not cantering away on your horse-good advise. There are cell phone holders that can attach to your belt, arm leg or boot. \u00a0Where ever you ride, program in the closest number for help be it a friend or a ranger station, before you leave. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Horse saddlebags and packs are helpful for carrying essentials. \u00a0Water, snacks, bug spray and \u2018just in case\u2019 things are more than a blessing when needed. \u00a0Additionally, if you are going with others, you may find that you have just what is needed in a pinch. \u00a0Nothing is worse than having a broken reign with no way to do a repair. A leather punch and a few leather ties can help if any tack breaks and give you a good ride back home. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Below is a checklist for both you and your horse. \u00a0You may want to add to it, depending on where you live or ride. Sunscreen may be your number one item or maybe a compact raincoat. \u00a0Have your saddlebags or even a good canvas bag ready with the essentials ready to grab and go. You will get out on the trail faster and be well prepared! <\/span><\/p>\n
